SIALKOT: After the recounting of votes in NA-73, Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) candidate Usman Dar’s votes have increased, however, his runner-up status has not changed.
In Sialkot’s NA-73, 7,300 cancelled votes and 174 postal ballots were recounted. PTI’s Usman Dar’s votes increase by 132, while Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s Khawaja Asif’s votes increased by 45. Nevertheless, Khawaja Asif continues to remain victorious in the constituency.
Initially, the vote difference between both contenders was 1493 which has now been reduced to 1408. After recounting, Khawaja Asif’s votes stand at 117,002 while Usman Dar’s votes stand at 115,596 votes.
Usman Dar has already challenged the credibility of the recounting process and has filed an appeal to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). Moreover, he requesting the Returning Officer of NA-73 to recount all the votes in the constituency, however, only 15 polling stations were reopened on Dar’s request.
