MABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Communications Thursday expressed disappointmen
t over the performance of National Transport Research Centre (NTRC).
The committee, presided by MNA Muhammad Muzammil Qureshi, met to consider the detailed budgetary proposals relating to Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) for Ministry of Communication, Pakistan Post Department, National Transport Research Centre, Construction Technology Training Institute and National Hig
hways and Motorway Police for the year 2017.
The committee dis
cussed the development projects of Pakistan Post for inclusion in PSDP of Ministry of Communications for the year 2017 in detail and suggested making it sustainable in terms of challenges coming in the form of CPEC.
The committee instructed Pakistan P
ost to focus on the provision of services in rural and remote regions.
It also dis
cussed the budgetary proposals for the National Hig
hways and Motorway Police. The upcoming PSDP projects were considered in detail.
The committee stated that the number of on-duty patrol officers of the Motorway Police on the Karachi-Hyderabad-Sukkur section might be increased for better traffic management and accident control.
They also recommended the revised PC-I of the Karachi Green Line Project be approved on priority basis for its timely completion.
MNAs Chaudhry Khalid Javaid Warraich, Maiza Hameed, Dr Darshan, Najaf Abbas Sial, Nazir Ahmed Bughio, Ramesh Lal, Salim Rehman, Engr Hamidul Haq Khalil, Molana Qamarud din, Sahibzada Tariq Ullah, Naseema Hafeez Panezai, Engr Usman Khan Tarakai, Shahjehan Muneer Mangrio and senior officials of the Communications Ministry attended the meeting.
